‘Scandal’

Since Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn reunited on stage at the 2024 DNC last week, Scandal has been on constant rotation in my house. A former staple of ABC’s TGIT (a.k.a. Thursday night lineup of Shonda Rhimes series), Scandal wrapped up back in 2018 after seven seasons, but it’s still an engaging and intense watch. Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former employee of President Fitzgerald Grant III (Goldwyn) who is trying to move on from a messy affair with the President by opening her own crisis management firm — but she always seems to stay tangled in White House business. The case-of-the-week plots are fun, but it’s the scenes between Washington and Goldwyn that make the show a must-watch from the 2010s era of TV. When the chemistry is so good on screen that it starts affair rumors off screen, you know you’re watching something special.

‘Trap’

The new M. Night Shyamalan movie Trap is easily the most fun I've had at the movies this year. But now you don't even have to go to a movie theater to watch this twisty new thriller, because Trap is available to buy and rent online. Written and directed by Shyamalan, the films stars Josh Hartnett as Cooper: a lovable dad by day, and a serial... Read more
