‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 2
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is a vast improvement on the Prime Video hit’s first season insomuch that it’s stopped taking itself too seriously. This time around, we’ve got a hill troll with his own pro-wrestling intro, a wise elf shaving with a clam shell, and Sauron (Charlie Vicker) stirring the pot in Eregion by teasing Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) with gossip. There’s explosive action sequences, creepy new villains, and even a few swoon-worthy smooches between characters. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is not the prestigious fare you might be expecting, but it is a hell of a lot of fun. Where else can you see Tom Bombadil (Rory Kinnear) talking in riddles, sea monsters obeying immortal lords, or a magical horse saving his owner from a cave full of baby Shelobs? The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is exhilarating fun, so long as you don’t expect much more.
