Industry Season 3 premieres on HBO this Sunday, August 11, marking the critically-acclaimed drama’s first time in the 9 PM Sunday slot. It’s a huge mark of confidence in the British-American series, co-created by former finance bros Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, and featuring one of the most exciting ensemble casts on television. And it’s one that’s wholly deserved. Industry Season 3 is one of the most addictive and electrifying seasons of TV you’ll watch all year.
Industry is set in the high-stakes world of investment banking, focused specifically on the sales floor of fictional financial institution Pierpoint & Co.’s London office. Earlier seasons primarily looked at the business from the perspective of the young graduates struggling to break in. Now, Industry is widening its focus. As its original class of grads have grown within Pierpoint, so, too, have the stakes gotten higher. Industry Season 3 will not only look at the petty personal drama on the trading floor, but how closely aligned commerce is with politics.
Ready to jump into HBO’s next big hit? Whether you’re new to the series or simply need a refresher on what happened in Season 2, here’s everything you need to know about Industry ahead of the Season 3 premiere…
What is Industry on HBO?
Industry is a contemporary drama series set in the high pressure world of investment banking. The first season premiered on HBO in November 2020 and followed a quintet of “graduates” fresh out of college, vying for one of the few open slots working permanently on the sales floor at Pierpoint, a prestigious financial institution.
We watch as these hot, young, Gen Z, Gordon Gecko wannabes do their best to smooth-talk wealthy clients, navigate the tense social politics of the office, embark on scandalous affairs, and just party.
How Many Seasons of Industry are There?

Industry Recap: What Do I Need to Know Before Season 3?
You don’t need to bulk up on dragon lord lore or catch up on a million analytical podcasts if you want to jump in to Industry this weekend. The dialogue can be a bit inscrutable when it’s all finance, but Industry is by and large a show about the emotional relationships of the characters: who’s on top, who’s on bottom, in both business and in the bedroom.
Still want a basic recap?
In Season 1, we watched Robert Spearing and Yasmin Kara-Hanani carry on a illicit game of flirtation, but are ultimately roommates and friends by time Season 3 rolls around. In Industry Season 2, Yasmin learns that her father has lost most of the family’s money paying cash settlements to women he sexually groomed, leaving her financially in the lurch. Meanwhile, Robert dabbles in sobriety and begins dating idealistic grad Venetia Berens (Indy Lewis). He also embarks on a secret affair with Nicole Craig (Sarah Parrish), a Pierpoint client with a penchant for making inappropriate moves on young graduates (including Harper all the way back in the pilot episode).
In the first two seasons of Industry, we saw Harper initially bond with boss, mentor, and fellow American Eric Tao. He encourages her ideas and kept the secret that she forged her college transcripts. However, Industry Season 2 ends with Eric revealing she never graduated university, forcing Harper’s dismissal from Pierpoint. In Season 3, she’s still sharing a house with Robert and Yasmin, but working as an assistant at FutureDawn, a company obsessed with ethical investments. Eric, meanwhile, has a bigger role than ever at Pierpoint.
