Zachary Levi is starring as the adult version of a childhood character who can make whatever he wants come to life in Harold and the Purple Crayon. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this comedic flick!
Based on the children’s book of the same name by Crockett Johnson, Harold and the Purple Crayon sees Harold all grown up, still with his magical purple crayon. However, he somehow managed to draw himself off of the book’s pages into our world. After relying on a purple crayon his whole life, Harold is going to have to learn how real life functions. After all, real problems can not always be solved with a purple crayon.
So, where can you watch Harold and the Purple Crayon? Is it on Netflix? What about Max?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
WHERE TO WATCH HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON:
As of now, the only way that you can watch Harold and the Purple Crayon is to go to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, August 2. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you will just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple TV, YouTube and Amazon, or becomes available to stream on Netflix. Read on for more information.
WILL HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON BE ON NETFLIX?
Harold and the Purple Crayon will likely be on Netflix because of a deal inked between the streaming platform and Sony Pictures Releasing that gives the streamer rights to all the company’s theatrical films starting in 2022.
While a streaming release date for Harold and the Purple Crayon has not yet been announced, we can make an estimate based on another recent Sony film. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was released in theaters on March 22, 2024, before coming to Netflix on July 22, 2024 — around four months after it debuted. If Harold and the Purple Crayon follows the same pattern, we could be watching from the comfort of our homes by early December 2024.
WILL HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON BE ON HBO MAX?
No, Harold and the Purple Crayon will not be on Max — previously known as HBO Max — since it’s not a Warner Bros. Discovery movie.
