Ellen DeGeneres‘ final fare of comedy is approaching — and just secured an official Netflix release date.
DeGeneres’ stand-up special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval will begin streaming on Tuesday, Sept. 24, per Variety. The special’s logline details that DeGeneres is back on the stage “for the first time in six years” following her first Netflix stand-up special Ellen DeGeneres: Relatable — which, at the time, marked her return to stand-up after 15 years.
“The final comedy special of her historic career, Ellen gets personal and reveals what she’s been doing since being ‘kicked out of show business,’” the logline continues. “From the mundane world of raising chickens and parallel parking to the harsh reality of becoming a brand-name celebrity, she goes deep into her stand-up roots and brings laughs through life’s most real and absurd realities.”
She first teased her upcoming special back in May, sharing the following statement at the time:
“To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.”
DeGeneres’ career was shrouded in controversy after a bombshell BuzzFeed News report detailed several toxic workplace allegations. During one night of the Santa Rosa stop of her Ellen’s Last Stand… Up tour in July, she told the audience members that this gig was “the last time” they would be seeing her, and that “after [her] Netflix special, [she’s] done,” per SFGate.
“I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity,” she also said at the show.
