Cate Blanchett plays an outlaw going back to her home planet to track someone down in Borderlands, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this action-packed flick!
Based on the video game series of the name, Borderlands follows Lilith (Blanchett), a notorious woman wanted by the law. When the daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramirez), the most powerful S.O.B. goes missing, Lilith goes back to her planet of Pandora to find her. This not a job that Lilith can do alone, so she ends up joining an unlikely team. That team includes the demolitionist Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Roland (Kevin Hart) the mercenary, the protective Krieg (Florian Munteanu), and scientific Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Claptrap (Jack Black) the robot. Will this powerful group be able to save the day and return Atlas’s daughter?
So, where can you watch Borderlands? Is it on Netflix? What about Prime Video?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
WHERE TO WATCH BORDERLANDS
Currently, the only way to watch Borderlands is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, August 9. You can find a list of local showings on Fandango. Otherwise, you will just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon.
WHEN WILL BORDERLANDS BE ON STREAMING?
While a digital release date has not yet been announced, we can make an estimate on when Borderlands will become available to rent or purchase based on a previous movie distributed by Lionsgate. Unsung Hero joined digital on May 28, about four weeks after its theatrical debut. If Borderlands follows the same trajectory, you may be able to watch from the comfort of your home by mid September 2024.
Plus, it’s possible that Borderlands will eventually come to Peacock due to a deal that gives the streamer access to all Lionsgate theatrical releases during its Pay 2 window beginning in 2024.
WILL BORDERLANDS BE ON PRIME VIDEO?
Borderlands will likely not be available to stream as part of your Prime Video subscription since it is not a film by Amazon MGM Studios, but it will be available to rent and/or purchase on the service as part of their video-on-demand offerings.
WILL BORDERLANDS BE ON NETFLIX?
No, Borderlands will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the film may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on digital platforms in the meantime.
