When Calls the Heart actress Mamie Laverock is still recovering in the hospital after falling from a five-story balcony in May.
The Hallmark star’s mother gave fans an update on social media about a month after the incident, writing, “Thank you for your healing messages for Mamie. Mamie survived her injuries, however her road to recovery will be long.”
She added, “I will be setting up a mailbox for all of your cards and well wishes shortly.”
The accident occurred May 26 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she had been transferred after experiencing an undisclosed “medical emergency.” At St. Paul’s, Laverock was “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.” The actress was in critical condition and put on life support after the accident left her body “shattered.”
According to a GoFundMe set up by her family, Laverock “has undergone two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery today.”
The family wrote, “Mamie is ‘doing well’ comparatively to when she arrived. Doing well because she has survived these extensive surgeries.” But Laverock is “enduring tremendous pain.”
Laverock’s When Calls the Heart co-star Erin Krakow shared the GoFundMe on her social media. “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too,” she wrote.
Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s on-screen mother in the show, also shared the GoFundMe with her followers on X.
“I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this,” she wrote.
The 19-year-old starred in several episodes of the Hallmark drama as Rosaleen Sullivan since 2014. Her acting career also included appearances in This Means War, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Psych, and more.
Laverock’s mother told the Los Angeles Times soon after the accident that the family plans to sue St. Paul’s Hospital.
“We have a case. All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong,” Rockmann said. “It’s unbelievable that she’s with us.”
