Facts of Life actress Mindy Cohn did not hold back when she was recently questioned about the rumored reboot that she and her co-stars were developing with the late Norman Lear. According to the actress, the reboot is now “very dead” after one of her co-stars sabotaged it.
But who could it be? Cohn did not name names, but we at least know her former co-stars, which narrows the speculation down a bit.
The ’80s sitcom stars Cohn, Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon, and Kim Fields as a group of teenagers attending a private all-girls school in upstate New York.
Cohn claimed during a recent appearance on Sirius XM’s Jeff Lewis Live, “One of the girls… went behind our backs and tried to make a separate deal for a spinoff just for herself and devastated the rest of us.”
Cohn was joined by actor Michael Hitchcock, who chimed in to comment, “There’s always a greedy bitch.”
Cohn did not appear to disagree, replying, “You know what, Michael Hitchcock? Greedy bitch. She was a greedy bitch. I’ll say it.”
Brutal!
She said the move was “not very cute.”
“A couple of people can’t move past it, don’t want to move past it. We are not as united,” Cohn explained. “We were united for 40 years over not talking about each other, not doing dirty, not, you know, all for one, one for all. And this kind of wrecked that, which is sad. Really sad.”
Cohn also hinted that fans could look through her Instagram to figure out which of her co-stars she still hangs out with.
And after taking a scroll through Cohn’s Instagram, it is worth noting that the only Facts of Life co-star Cohn does not follow is Whelchel — though she shared a photo of the pair appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show earlier this year with McKeon. She also shared a photo of herself, McKeon, and Fields at Lear’s 100th birthday celebration in 2022.
The internet appears divided over who the so-called “greedy” co-star could be. Some speculators believe it could also be Fields since she is the one “missing” from Cohn’s more recent social media activity. Others believe that it’s Whelchel, considering the nature of the character she played on the show. “Without even looking, it’s 100% Blair,” one person wrote on X.
Decider reached out to Whelchel, McKeon, and Fields’ reps for further comment. Cohn declined Decider’s request for comment.
The NBC sitcom premiered as a spinoff from Diff’rent Strokes. It aired for nine seasons from 1979 to 1988.
Now, Cohn says the reboot is definitely “dead. It’s very dead,” adding that her co-stars have “no desire to ever work together” again.
