The Great American Baking Show returns for Season 2 on Friday, May 24, for another round of delectable competition featuring some of the nation’s most passionate and talented bakers. The Roku Original is the U.S. version of the most beloved baking show on the planet—The Great British Baking Show—and even brings GBBS judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith stateside to oversee the proceedings and evaluate the bakers’ offerings.
Stepping in for Season 1 host Ellie Kemper this season is Casey Wilson, the actress/ podcaster best known for her work on Happy Endings, Black Monday and SNL. She’ll join returning Season 1 host Zach Cherry to keep the bakers’ and the judges on their toes. In this exclusive clip, fans get a first look at the comedic chops that Wilson is bringing to the show and her crackling chemistry with Cherry.
The clip starts with Wilson and Cherry dressed as FBI agents emerging from a bush and ducking under yellow crime scene tape. “Got called in from the big tent,” Wilson begins. “This is about as bad as I’ve ever seen,” observes Cherry as he surveys the area. Then, there are flashes of faux crime scene photos of a spilled milk bottle, an overturned mixing bowl, and a half-eaten cinnamon roll strewn on the ground. As Wilson makes a gagging noise, she moans, “I’m gonna be sick.”
“Think this has anything to do with it being Pastry Week?” asks Cherry. Wilson squats down to take a closer look at the destruction. “Fits the MO,” she says wearily. “Looks like we got a puff pastry here,” Wilson whispers as she examines a mangled treat. Cherry takes a sample of red goo from a tramped Danish and puts it in his mouth. “Raspberry,” Cherry notes. “Who would do this?” asks Casey in frustration. “What do we do?” “Nothing,” replies Cherry. “It’s just pastries.”
This hilarious cold open will have you hankering for more of The Great American Baking Show. Luckily, you’ll be able to stream it for free on The Roku Channel this Friday!
