From comedy to action and thrills, this week’s new movies on VOD have everything. Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau star in the comedy Babes, while 50 Cent and Mel Gibson head to the desert to find a serial killer in Boneyard.
You can also check out the drama Chestnut, starring Stranger Things‘ Natalia Dyer and Fargo‘s Rachel Keller. In Chestnut, Dyer plays Annie, a young woman biding her time during the summer after college graduation before she has to move across the country for her new job. While she’s home, she becomes entangled in a love triangle with a man and a woman she meets in a bar (played by Keller and Danny Ramirez), which gives her summer a thrilling jolt, and complicates her feelings about leaving.

Babes
In Babes, Ilana Glazer plays Eden, a woman who becomes pregnant from a one-night stand and decides to keep the baby. With help from her best friend Dawn, (Michelle Buteau), who has recently given birth herself, she endures all the wonders and struggles of pregnancy, but her friendship with Dawn suffers as a result. Directed by Pamela Adlon, the film co-stars John Carroll Lynch, Oliver Platt, Hasan Minhaj, and Stephan James.
Boneyard
In Boneyard, Brian Van Holt stars as Detective Ortega who joins forces with the local Police Chief (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) and special agent (Mel Gibson) to find a killer who left the remains of several young women in the New Mexico desert. They might all be working toward the same goal, but best believe these men are all alphas whose methods don’t always align.
