While many of us will be tuning in to Peacock this week to inhale as much Olympics content as we can, there are plenty of other new shows and movies streaming this weekend to keep us occupied. Netflix has new episodes of Too Hot To Handle and the new comedy series The Decameron, Prime Video is premiering Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (minus the “Part I”), and that’s just the beginning.
Not sure which new releases to check out? Let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.
New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: The Decameron, Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning + More
Netflix’s The Decameron is a riff on the 14th century novel about nobles and their help who try to escape the plague by hiding out in an Italian villa. In this version, their hideout becomes a farce full of sex, booze, and pure chaos. On Prime Video, you can catch Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell and Vanessa Kirby in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which makes it’s premiere for free on the platform this week. And on Peacock, Olympics coverage begins this week from Paris, with original commentary shows like Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson to help recap the Games’ most memorable moments.
New on Netflix July 25: The Decameron
Nexflix’s The Decameron takes a look at the bubonic plague through a comedy lens (time plus mass death equals comedy). Based on the book of the same name by Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio, the story is set at the time of the black death in 1346 and tells the story of a group of young nobles from Florence that take refuge in a mansion in the countryside to stay safe as the plague washes over the continent, and keep each other entertained by telling each other stories. In this version, Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet, Saoirse Monica-Jackson, and Tanya Reynolds co-star.
New on Peacock July 26: Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson
In addition to the Olympics airing on multiple broadcast channels over the next few weeks, every single event will be streamed on Peacock, too. That’s a lot of content. If you’re looking for a simplified way to watch the biggest and most viral moments of the Games, you’re definitely going to want to watch Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, a comedic roundup of some of the biggest moments each week. The show premieres on July 26 and a total of eight episodes will be broadcast over the course of the Games.
New on Prime Video July 25: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning
Leave it to Tom Cruise to fight off bad guys while dangling from the kitchen car of a train that’s dangling over a cliff while the fryolators drizzle boiling hot oil all over everyone involved. That’s just one scene where Cruise once again ups the action-ante and proves he’s the master of stunts in Mission:Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which is available to stream for free to Prime Video subscribers.
