Tracker on CBS is officially one of the biggest new shows of 2024 and it returns tonight with none other than a juicy guest star turn from Supernatural and The Boys star Jensen Ackles!
Jensen Ackles joins Tracker Episode 12 “Off the Books” as the estranged brother of lead character, and titular “Tracker,” Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley). According to a CBS press release, Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles) shows up to enlist his younger brother Colter’s help tracking down “a former army buddy who’s gone missing after several weeks of paranoid behavior. The investigation takes the brothers into the world of Special Forces missions, shady off-the-books programs and conspiracy theories, all while they contend with their family’s past.”
Now, on any major network show, it’s a big freaking deal with a main character’s estranged sibling finally arrives on the scene. However, casting Jensen Ackles as your rugged leading man’s even more rugged older brother has to be considered something of a casting coup. Ackles is one of the most beloved and in-demand actors on television, thanks in huge part to his popular turn as Dean Winchester on the long-running Supernatural.
In fact, if you check out the Tracker “Off the Books” Sneak Peek clip, you’ll notice that Ackles is channeling some of Dean’s incorrigible charm as Russell. (Certainly doesn’t hurt that he’s playing the big brother again…)
So when can you check out Jensen Ackles on Tracker? Will Tracker be new tonight? Here’s everything you need to know so you don’t miss Jensen Ackles guest star turn on CBS’s Tracker...
Is Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles Joining Tracker?
Yes! At least for one episode, that is. Jensen Ackles is playing Colter’s brother Russell on Tracker Season 1 Episode 12 “Off the Books.”
It’s unclear if Ackles will return for future episodes, but the fact that Tracker nabbed a big, popular, well-known TV star to play Colter’s brother suggests the plan may be to bring him back for future arcs. After all, CBS has already ordered Tracker Season 2, which will take the coveted Sunday 8 PM slot between 60 Minutes and The Equilizer in Fall 2024.
