Soccer fans in the United States aren’t too happy about Fox’s coverage, or lack thereof, of the 2024 European Football Championship, and they’re taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to let the world know.
The Euros is the Union of European Football Associations’ (UEFA) premier association football tournament and is typically the second most-watched soccer tournament in the world just after the FIFA World Cup. Occurring in a different city just once every four years, this month-long tournament is understandably a must-see event for fans from all over, regardless of whether they call the game soccer or football.
But for fans in America, gaining access to the 2024 Euro in Germany has been no easy feat. The Euro 2024 website, says that those attempting to watch the matches from the US will have access via Fox Sports USA English, FuboTV, and VIX, but people have been taking to X to share that things aren’t quite as they seem.
“FOX locking some of the euros games behind a paywall in fubo is just pure evil,” tweeted one user. “Why does FOX acquire the rights to the EURO in the US just to [proceed] with an unserious coverage and not even show all of the games?” shared another.
