There’s a new reality TV show on the block — or should we say, the farm. After a short-lived single season on The CW in 2008, Fox’s reboot of Farmer Wants A Wife premieres tonight, March 8.
Farmer Wants A Wife is an international sensation and, according to Fox, widely regarded as the most successful dating show in the world. Since its original UK incarnation aired in 2001, 32 other countries have picked up the show, which focuses on farmers finding love in a group of city girls.
And when Fox says most successful, they mean in terms of results: 180 marriages and 410 children. For comparison, only two of the 26 Bachelors are still with the woman they proposed to in their respective finales, and another two are married to their runner-up.
The new series on Fox will be hosted by country superstar Jennifer Nettles and follow four ranch-owning cowboys looking for love. A group of unlucky-in-love girls from the big city will learn what it’s like to live and work on a farm and try to form connections and find love with one of the farmers. It’s almost like The Simple Life if it were a dating show.
