Season 3 of The Real Murders of Atlanta is in full swing, and DECIDER has your first look at this weekend’s installment, titled “A Mother Murdered.”
The episode centers on 16-year-old twins Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead, who found their mother Nikki Whitehead stabbed to death at home.
In this exclusive clip, viewers meet Special Asst. District Attorney Titus Nichols, who explains that a Rockdale County sheriff happened to be “serving civil paperwork in the neighborhood” when Tasmiyah “ran outside” after returning home from school with her sister.
Atlanta Television Journalist Shaunya Chavis shares, “She’s frantic, clearly distraught, seeking his assistance because she’s telling them, ‘There’s blood everywhere, my mother is dead.'”
After meeting Tasmiyah as well, the officer entered the home, where, according to Nichols, he discovered “an unimaginably brutal crime scene.”
“There was blood on the floor, there was even blood on the couch,” Nichols says. “Everywhere he looked, they saw signs of a very brutal incident that had taken place.”
Chavis notes that the officer “immediately” noticed “drag marks on the floor that lead into the bathroom.”
“He then sees a woman in a pool of blood in a bathtub, dead,” she adds. “I can’t imagine what he was feeling because this was an incredibly horrific scene — blood everywhere, two girls find their mother murdered — and you wonder, how could something like this happen, in of all places, in Conyers?”
The next episode of The Real Murders of Atlanta airs on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Oxygen. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Peacock. Watch the exclusive clip above.
