‘Single Parents’
ABC has a long history of developing exceptional comedies. Unfortunately, the network also has a habit of axing said comedies after two or three seasons. There are countless ABC sitcoms currently residing in the “canceled way too soon” graveyard (Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Sports Night, Bless This Mess, Better Off Ted), but the one that hurts the most is Singe Parents. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether and J. J. Philbin, this charming ensemble centers on an eclectic group of single parents who become friends as they navigate the inevitable ups and downs of parenthood. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Kimrie Lewis, Jake Choi, and Brad Garrett, the deft blend of goofy comedy and heartwarming sentimentality combine to make this delightful sitcom a fun, breezy binge.
