‘Twister’ (1996)

Perhaps you’ve seen the new Twisters movie starring Daisy Ridley and Glen Powell, or perhaps you’ve merely seen the people complaining online about how the new Twisters movie doesn’t feature a kiss between Daisy Ridley and Glen Powell. Either way, now is the perfect time to watch the original 1996 Twister movie, a genuinely great disaster film that’s streaming on Max. Directed by Jan de Bont, Twister was arguably the last good film written by celebrated sci-fi author Michael Crichton, who co-wrote the Twister screenplay with his then-wife, Anne-Marie Martin. This movie has everything: Helen Hunt in a tight tank top, Philip Seymour Hoffman as the food-obsessed comic relief, and a cow flying through the air. And yes, it ends with a big, juicy kiss between Hunt and the late, great Bill Paxton. They don’t make ’em like this anymore!
